Messe Duesseldorf Asia’s wire Southeast ASIA 2013, 10th International Wire & Cable Trade Fair for Southeast Asia and Tube Southeast ASIA 2013, 9th International Tube & Pipe Trade Fair for Southeast Asia saw a big attendance jump – 28 percent – at its recent show, compared with the 2011 staging.

The show was held in September at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC) and drew more than 6,800 visitors from 55 countries.

A total of 38 percent of the visitors were from outside Thailand, with the majority of these overseas attendees came from India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan and Vietnam.

In addition, there were 380 international exhibitors from 30 countries. International companies accounted for 97 percent of the exhibitors with representation from eight national pavilions and country group exhibits, including Austria, China, France, Germany, Italy, Singapore, Taiwan and U.S.

“We are pleased with the double-digit growth in terms of quality visitor turnout and the internationality of exhibiting companies on the trade show floor,” said Gernot Ringling, managing director of Messe Duesseldorf Asia.

He added, “The focus of the global economy is set increasingly on Southeast Asia and its surrounding regions, signaling that trade fairs continue to fulfill the industries’ needs as an international business conduit into the region.”

Southeast Asia more and more is becoming a manufacturing hub for companies from all over the world.

Dr. Gerhard Bartz, president of the German Wire and Cable Machine Manufacturers Association (VDKM), said, “The ASEAN region remains an attractive destination for foreign investments. Given its population of some 600 million people and with the formation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) 2015, this region will continue to grow in importance. The market in Thailand is very necessary and relevant to companies who are involved in wire and cable productions as these components have wide applications in industries such as automotive, electrical and electronics as well as infrastructure development.”

Exhibitors were pleased with the show’s turnout.

“We are extremely impressed with the quality of visitors attending this year’s edition of wire and Tube Southeast ASIA,” said Klaus Eichelmann, managing director of Reber Systematic GmbH.

He added, “We felt that the technical seminars, which had been organized as a prelude to the trade exhibition, created a ripple effect during the trade shows. We have secured over 15 projects as a result of this combined synergy and are very happy with the results.”

Attendees also noticed the increase in visitors to the show.

“The purpose of my visit is to network with some key manufacturers and suppliers,” said Teodoro G David III from the Synthium Trade Corporation (Philippines).

He added, “Compared to previous stagings, this year’s exhibitions have more exhibitors, and I also see more visitors.”
