Koa Organic Water Begins Kickstarter Campaign
Koa co-founders Adam Louras and Jonathan Rosenberg launched the Kickstarter campaign today and are seeking $50,000 in donations over the next 27 days to begin local sourcing and production in Dallas. They currently source ingredients from organic farmers in San Joaquin Valley, Calif.
“We’ve supplied Koa to reputable, healthy lifestyle and specialty food retailers in the Dallas area, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive,” Rosenberg said in a company release. “Gathering additional funding to expand to other local communities is the next step in Koa’s evolution.”
Koa, which has a suggested retail price of $4.99 for a 12 oz. bottle, is an entirely plant-based beverage made with a blend of nine fruit and vegetable juices. According to the company, it has no color, taste, odor, additives or preservatives and naturally contains nutrients and vitamins. Its bottle is 100 percent biodegradable.
Last month in New York, Koa finished second in New Beverage Showdown 5, a competition for beverage entrepreneurs held at BevNET Live, a biannual conference for the U.S. beverage industry. The judges of the competition pondered shelf placement and struggled to categorize Koa. They also didn’t like the price point. However, they did enjoy Koa’s taste and packaging.
